Virginia Brower-SmithVirginia F. Brower-Smith, 97, of Flora, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Milner Healthcare in Rossville, IN. She was born to the late Joseph and Josephine Thompson Cook on November 6, 1918 in Cutler, Indiana.
On February 14, 1940 she married Dale Brower in Trafalgar, IN and he preceded her on September 5, 1992. Her second marriage was to Paul Smith in 1995 and preceded her in 2005.

Virginia and Dale owned and operated Dales Café in flora from 1948 to 1965. She also worked at Flora Sundries. She retired from J-Ann Dress Shop in Flora.
She graduated from Cutler High School and attended Southland College of Beauty School.
Virginia was a member of the Flora Presbyterian Church where she play the organ for years. Virginia’s life was about family and Christian faith especially Christian music. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting.

Virginia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Janis and Jeffrey Beck of Flora. Son: Ron Brower of West Lafayette. Brother and sister-in-law: Mark “Mick” and Irma Cook of Cutler. Two sisters and a brother-in-law: Bonnie Wilson of Indianapolis and Marjorie and Richard Smith of South Raub. Three grandchildren: Deira Ehrman, Alan Brower and Jason Burns. Eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded by her parents, two husbands, three brothers and a sister.

Virginia’s family will receive friends Monday from 12 noon till time of service at 2:00 PM at Wheeler Family Funeral Home-Baker Chapel, 204 South Center Street, Flora, IN 46929. Rev. Charles Compton officiating. Private burial to follow at Ball Hill Cemetery. Memorial may be made to Flora Presbyterian Church.

    Dear family, We are so sorry we couldn’t attend Virginia’s service today. We had a prior commitment. You were all in our thoughts. Virginia was a lovely lady & will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Sincerely Tom & Ann
