Sandra Kay Humbarger, 72, of Peru, was called to her heavenly home, Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Community Heart Hospital in Indianapolis. Sandy was born on July 3, 1952, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky to the late William and Elizabeth Koger. On June 10, 1972, Sandy married Carl Humbarger at Fort Benjamin Harrison Chapel, and he survives. In 1974 Carl and Sandy opened the Peru Animal Hospital, where Dr. Carl and Sandy served the community until retiring in 2022. Sandy and Carl spent most of every hour together either at the office, home or enjoying tractor shows across the nation. She was active with Red Power Round Up, Chapter IH 33, Mid-America Threshing & Antique show in Tipton and the Peru Church of the Brethren. In 1970, Sandy graduated from Scecina High School in Indianapolis. Sandy is survived by her husband Dr. Carl Humbarger. Four sons: Charles Humbarger of Peru, Carl D. Humbarger of Lafayette, Chad (Elizabeth) Humbarger of Texas and Chris Humbarger of Peru. Two grandchildren: Madison and Hayden. One great-grandchild: Addalynn. Sister: Karleen McGill of Fishers. She is preceded by her parents and infant daughter: Carla Marie in July 1973.

A Celebration of Sandy’s Life will be in the spring of 2025. Burial will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be given in Sandra’s name to the Gideon Bibles or the Christian Motorcycle Associations.

    Carl, so sad to hear of Sandy’s passing! I always thought she was so beautiful and sweet. I can relate to loosing a spouse. It’s a journey, but count on Christ for comfort and peace each day.
