Robert L. “Bob” Jones, 90, of Flora, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, December 19, 2020 at his home. Bob was born to the late Homer G. and Steartle Lessie King Jones on October 24, 1930 in Greene County, TN. He came to the Flora area in his early adulthood and worked at Green Tree Feeds. Bob retired from the Carroll County Highway Department. On July 21, 1950 Bob married Betty Ragan in Howard County, IN and she preceded him on March 9, 2007. Bob was a past member and deacon at Valley View Baptist Church in Flora. He was a member of the Pine Grove Missionary Church near Delphi. One of Bob’s famous quotes was “The dang Jones Curse.” Bob is survived by two daughters and son-in-laws: Debra (Dennis) Burge of Delphi and Brenda (Mark) McCain of Kokomo. One brother: Homer Jones of Attica. Five grandchildren: Steven Jones, Aaron Jones, Kari Johnson, Robert McCain and Lynnette Locke. Eleven great-grandchildren. He is preceded by his parents, wife, daughter, Shirley Ann, and three sisters.
Private Family service for Robert L. Jones will be Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Wheeler Family Funeral Home-Baker Chapel, 204 South Center Street, Flora, IN 46929. Pastor Matthew Yech will officiate. Burial to follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to the Pine Grove Missionary Church.
