Robert B. “Rob” McKenzie, 60, of Cutler died after a short courageous battle with cancer Friday, August 23, 2024, at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. Rob was born on January 18, 1964, in Lafayette, IN to William “Bill” James and Joyce Hollis McKenzie. On November 15, 2003, in Flora, Rob married the love of his life, Melissa McKinley and she survives. Rob worked at Brim Concrete in Flora for 42 years as plant manager. He was a 1982 graduate of Carroll High School. Rob’s passions were family, friends, fishing, playing his guitar, Nascar, working on his hotrods, being a gear head and Mr.-Fix it, mushroom hunting and scratching his lottery tickets. Rob is survived by his wife: Melissa McKenzie. Three sons: Jason Roddel of Lafayette, Jake (Rachel) Roddel of Terre Haute and Casen McKenzie at home. Mother: Joyce McKenzie of Flora. Three brothers: Randy McKenzie, Russell (Sherrie) McKenzie and Ryan McKenzie all of Flora. Brother in-law: Brian (Shown) McKinley of Bringhurst. Father in-law: John (Bette) McKinley. Several nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his father Bill and mother in-law-Linda Angle.
The McKenzie Family invites friends to visit Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Wheeler Family Funeral Home-Baker Chapel, 204 S Center St, Flora, IN 46929 from 10:00am until 1:00pm. Celebration of Rob McKenzie’s Life will start at 1:00pm. Pastor Richard Voorhees will officiate. Private burial will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be given to Indiana Department of Natural Resources Fishing, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
