    Sondra, Judy, Carol, and families:
We are thinking of you and upholding you in prayer in this time of sorrow. Our hearts ache with you because we know you will miss him so much. But our hearts also give thanks that you have the blessed assurance and comfort in knowing that he is happy and whole and at peace with our Father. We are thankful for the friendship that he and my dad, (John Dawson) experienced during the difficult times of WWII and for the endurance of that friendship through the years. It was a pleasure for all of our family to meet Mr and Mrs. Curts and daughters during a time of reunion between him and my dad. We all came to think of him as a friend, prayer partner and a fine Christian gentleman. Our lives were richer for having known him and we know that he was a treasured friend to my dad. They will enjoy some wonderful reunion time together now!!! We will be thinking of each of you and keeping you in prayer. May God hold you tenderly and fill your hearts with His comfort, peace, and abiding hope.
    Love and prayers,
Family of the late Cpl John Dawson (Tom and Sandra Sullivan, Rick and Wanda Dawson, Mamie Dawson)

I am very sorry for the loss of the Curts. He was a nice and gentle man. Always pleasant. I don’t know if you were aware but he told me once that he was within just a few hundred yards of were the iconic picture of the joining of the Russian and American troops were at the very end of the war. May he have a blessed eternity with his wife and family.

To the family of Richard Curts,
Dick was a true gentleman, Christian, soldier and friend. During his time while living in his Fishers, Indiana independent -living apartment and later at The Harbour Manor Long Term Care Facility in Noblesville, Indiana, Dick and I visited with one another often. Growing up in Flora, Indiana, I did not know Dick well except that he sang in the Flora First Christian Church choir and worked in the post office. Somehow, I always remembered how often he donated blood.
Throughout our visits, I came to know much about Dick. As a retired military servicemember myself, he shared much of his military past with me. We also discussed his children, his work career and his enthusiasm as a radio operator. During a visit with Dick, he showed me a painting his wife Mildred had started but never finished before her passing. It served as a daily reminder of his love for her and how much he missed her. Yesterday, it was a privilege for me to serve as pallbearer for Dick. I could not have been more honored. I am reassured Dick and Mildren are now finally back together where they will be forever more.

    Dear Sondra and sisters,
We were sad to hear of your dad’s passing. I remember him at the post office so many years ago. Always a delight to talk with! Sorry we could not attend his memorial. We were celebrating Greg’s mother getting married after 5 years of being a widow. Otherwise, we would have been there. Our sincere sympathy to you all.

    Sondra and Carole,
Susan and I have so many great memories of times spent at your house and camping with the Girl Scouts and riding to school together. Your mom and dad were always just quietly present and welcoming. We are grateful both of them lived long and fruitful lives. We hope you find comfort in all your memories and the legacy your parents left. Peace be with all of you.
