Lorraine H. Popejoy, 72, Flora, went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 16, 2015, in the emergency room at St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo. Lorraine was born to the late Robert and Ruth Flora Heffner on Sept. 13, 1942, in Lafayette. Lorraine married Jerry L. Popejoy on Oct. 23, 1960, in Flora and he survives.
In 2002 Lorraine retired from Delco in Kokomo after working there 30 years.
Lorraine graduated from Flora High School in 1960. She was member and past president of the Psi Iota Xi in Flora. Lorraine was very active in the Flora area helping anyway she could from volunteering at the thrift shop and food pantry, to driving Meals on Wheels. Lorraine’s heart and love was with Living Faith Church of the Brethren.
Surviving with Jerry are a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Greg Owensby, Brownsburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Robin Popejoy, Sheridan; four grandsons and a spouse, Derek and Lindley Owensby, Tyler Owensby, Jacob Popejoy and Jared Popejoy; and one sister and brother-in-law, Mona and Steve Harness, Burlington.
Lorraine’s family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Living Faith Church of the Brethren. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Jeff Tomson officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery.
