Lorna E. Miller Hicks

Lorna E. Miller Hicks, 90, of Flora, went to be with her Lord Monday morning at her daughter’s home in Battle Ground surrounded by family. Lorna was born to the late William H. and Ruth M. Reames Miller in New Waverly, Indiana on December 16, 1924. Lorna married Russell E. Hicks on June 19, 1942 in Delphi and he preceded her January 11, 1988.Lorna was elected to serve as Carroll County Auditor from 1982-1990. She also served the town of Flora as Clerk/Treasure for 3 terms, 1992-2004. She enjoyed her years in Flora as a member of the Flora United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and Jr. Church: Flora Rotary Club: Carroll County Republican Women’s Club: Charter coach for Flora girls’ softball: Girl Scout Leader: Den mother for Cub Scout. Lorna enjoyed quilting, crocheting, painting, crafting and spending time with family and friends. Lorna attended Rossville High School.Surviving are 3 daughters and son-in-laws: Kathy & Kent King of Flora, Sally Schmidt of Flora and Diana & Sid Floyd of Battle Ground. One son and daughter-in-law: Charles & Pam Hicks of Indianapolis. One sister: Doris Burkhalter of Pyrmont. Eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Lorna is preceded by a daughter Shelia Hicks, son Tom Hicks, grandson Dan Kelly, sister Florence and two brothers Wayne and Glen Miller.
