Judith K. Brooks, 76, of Bringhurst, was called to her heavenly home, Friday, August 11, 2017 in Kokomo, Indiana. Judy was born to the late Hugh and Fern Kelly Bowman on January 17, 1941 in Carroll County.
Judy was a register nurse, working at Home Hospital in Lafayette for many years. She also had worked at Purdue University, Salin Bank in Flora, Wisler Electric in Flora and in Delphi with Medical Associates for Doctors Baker and Petry.
She graduated from Delphi High School and Indiana University-Kokomo. Judy was a member of the Flora United Methodist Church, Delta Theta Chi and was active at one time as an EMT with Carroll County for serval years. She enjoyed reading and gardening.
On June 28, 1959 in Carroll County Judith Bowman married and started a life together with Thomas Brooks and he preceded her on April 19, 2014. They lived in the Flora area for years and then moved to Clearwater, FL in 1997 till returning to Bringhurst in 2011.
Judy is survived by two daughters: Vicki ( Kevin ) Hinkle of Kokomo, Michelle ( Greg ) Barnes of Flora,. One son: Steve ( Misty ) Brooks of Flora. Nine Grandchildren: Cody (Samantha) Hinkle, Chaseton Hinkle ( Megan Whitcomb), Caylin Hinkle, Joshua, Paige, Kinsey Barnes. Alexsis, Addison, Kaia Brooks.
Great Grandchildren: Colton Hinkle, Kinley Brooks, Khloe Proffitt, and Cambreigh Hinkle.
Three nieces and three nephews.
The family of Judy invite friends to call Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 4 to 7 PM at Wheeler Family Funeral Home-Baker Chapel, 204 South Center Street, Flora, IN 46929. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev Larry DeVos. Burial to follow at Ball Hill Cemetery, near Cutler. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
