Harry D. Lucas Jr, “Junior”, 76, of Flora, died Sunday, January 13, 2019 in the Emergency Room at St. Elizabeth East Hospital. Junior was born to the late Harry Sr and Eva Hamilton Lucas on November 17, 1942 in Logansport, IN. On July 7, 1979 Harry married Anna M. Compton in Delphi and she survives. Junior retired from truck driving after 25 years of driving. He also worked at Frito Lay in Frankfort at one time. Harry attended Flora High School and joined the US Army National Guard in 1960 and served till 1968. Junior was a member of Valley View Baptist Church in Flora, an avid IU and Duke college basketball fan, avid LA Dodger and Chicago Cub fan, Dale Earnhardt fan, enjoyed his Indiana heritage, fishing, playing euchre and most card games, in his younger days he liked to roller skate, oldest of his brother and sisters. Junior’s life was about his family and how proud he was of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his siblings.
Harry is survived by is wife of 39 years, Anna Lucas. Five sons: Brian and Debbie Lucas of Delphi, Jeff and Paula Lucas of Huntington, IN, Robert Lucas of Lafayette, Tony and Joy Lucas of West Lafayette and Ashley and Lindsey Lucas of Camden. Three daughters: Daphne Gibson of Alabama, Tammy and Randy Cottrell of Burnettsville, IN and Kelly Minor of Lafayette. Thirty-three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Two brothers: Ted and Rita Lucas of Flora and Jim and Tish Lucas of Winamac. One sister: Linda and Jim Draper of Flora. Harry is preceded by his parents and a sister Betty Knies.

The family of Junior invite friends to call Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 4 pm to 6 pm at Wheeler Family Funeral Home-Baker Chapel, 204 South Center Street, Flora, IN 46929. Funeral service will be at 1:30 pm Friday at the funeral home. Lee Howe will officiate. Burial to follow at Zion Cemetery with Military graveside rites. Junior’s family is asking for all memorial donations be given to assist in funeral and burial expenses.
