Debra K. Moore, 68, of Cutler, IN, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. She was born on September 3, 1955, in El Paso, TX to the late Medford D. and Phyllis (Reef) Harmon. In 1973 Debra graduated from Carroll High School, and on December 21, 1973, she married Cloyed Moore, her husband of 50 years, in Burlington, IN.

Debra was a lifelong resident of Cutler, IN. She loved her small-town community, and she made it her mission to take care of her family and her neighbors. Debra’s days were spent caring for others, whether it was running errands, cooking, cleaning or just listening and conversing, she was a friend and comforter to many people. Debra was the owner and operator of the Cutler Bait & Tackle for several years.

Debbie was an avid reader and belonged to the Stephen King Book Club, she enjoyed video gaming on her phone, computer or even a Nintendo in the 90’s. When a holiday was approaching Debra was ready to decorate for the occasion. She knew no limit when it came to decorations, there was always room for another Easter egg, jack-o-lantern, or Santa Claus in her home. Debra’s family describes her as a best friend and confidant, a kind, selfless, and generous woman with a servant’s heart. She would do anything to protect and help the people she loved.

Surviving family include her husband Cloyed Moore, a son, Christopher Moore (Elizabeth Straub) of Indinapolis and two grandchildren, Tobias Moore and Tegan Moore. Extended family includes two sisters: Cheri Roberson of Kokomo and Cindy (Wayne) Grier of Chipley, FL; a niece, Carey Horn of Cutler; and nephews Dallas Moore of Lebanon, IN and Dusty Hooper of Flora, IN. She also leaves behind an uncle, Larry Reef of Cutler.

A celebration of Debra’s life will take place on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Wheeler Family Funeral Home-Baker Chapel. Family invites friends to visit from 11:00 a.m. to time of service at 1:00. Burial will follow at Ball Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations can be given to the Cutler Volunteer Fire Department, in honor of Debra Moore. Wheeler Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the Moore Family.

Cloyed and Chris, I’m so sorry to hear of Debs passing. She was truly a wonderful woman. She was a true friend in which my family and I will not ever forget. She was always there to help us, feed us, watch movies with us, or just be a listening ear. I will not ever forget the summer we all loaded up in that crazy tiny chevette and headed out to Kentucky, one of my favorite memories and one of the best vacations I ever went on. My love and hugs to you all during this difficult time.
