Connie J. Roberts, 79, a lifelong resident of Flora, died Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Franciscan Health in Lafayette from complications of Covid. Connie was born in Flora to the late Max and Mildred Eller Mullendore on November 27, 1941. She worked at Americus Restaurant for 20 years. She enjoyed getting together with the ladies she worked with at Americus after she left. Connie retired from the Miami Correctional Center as a correctional officer working there 10 years. She watered the flowers for the Town of Flora, cleaned at Zinn Kitchens, volunteered at the Thrift Shop and attended Valley View Baptist Church. Connie loved playing euchre with the regulars at Americus, planting flowers in her yard, country music, playing Phase 10 with her girls and grandchildren and decorating for holidays with the decorations she acquired over the years. The main joy and love of her life were her grandchildren. Connie is survived by a son: Dennis E. (Sue) Jackson of, Louisville, KY. Two daughters: Michelle R. (Leaman) Jackson-Winter Karlene K. (Joe) Reneau. Eight grandchildren: Derek Jackson, Kyle (Brooklin) Morgan, Kalab Winter, Jonah (Miriah) Winter, Hannah Winter, Jaden Reneau, Andrew “Drew” Jackson and Dylan Jackson Three great-grandchildren: Eva Reneau, Lincoln Reneau and Bryer Winter. Two brothers: Gary Mullendore of Angola and Brad (Sue) Mullendore of Crawfordsville. One sister: Marlene Mullendore of Boston, MA. She is preceded by her parents, son-Darus E. Jackson, two grandsons- Landen Reneau and Garrett Reneau . Sister- Brenda Vaughn.
Connie’s request was to have no public service. There will be a private family celebration of Connie’s life.
