Rebecca Kay “Becky” Martin, 74 of Flora entered the gates of Heaven on Friday, November 29, 2024, at home with her family by her side. Becky was born on July 24, 1950, in Logansport, to the late Norman “Bud” Jr. and Marjorie Zeek Peterson. Becky was a 1969 graduate of Rossville High School. On February 6, 1977, during a snowstorm in Rossville, Becky married the love of her life, Joe T. Martin, and he survives. Becky worked with kids in the junior primary-Title One class at Carroll Elementary School for many years. After retiring, Becky and Joe would be out and about, and students would see Becky and stop by to say Hi. Becky and Joe raised two boys, Jason and Brad, and enjoyed attending and supporting them at all of their events. The boys remember that their house was the “hang out” for the neighborhood kids and school buddies. Becky coached the boys in baseball at Burlington. Becky and Joe had a cottage from 1989 to 2000 on Lake Freeman. In 2001 they bought a year-round house on the lake and lived there until moving back to Flora in 2018. Becky is survived by her husband Joe T. Martin. Two sons: Jason Martin (Jenn Randle) of Bringhurst and Bradley (Hollie) Martin of Bringhurst. Two grandsons: Brayden and Tyler Martin and three special young ladies: Kaylin, Kinleigh and Khloe Randle. Sister: Debbie McGhee (Donnie Forrest) of Flora. Two brothers: Steve (Janice) Peterson of Bringhurst and Scott (Dawne) Peterson of Lafayette.

The Martin Family invite friends to visit Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Crossroads Community Christian Church, 3570 E. 200 S., Bringhurst, IN 46913. A Celebration of Becky’s Life will be at 1:00pm Thursday, November 5, 2025, at the church. Pastor Dan Butcher will officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Becky’s memory to Carroll Elementary School Title One, envelopes will be available at visitation.

My goodness where to start! From her being our aide during recess to becoming an adult and being so happy to see her and Joe out and about, I’m just so sad. Such an amazing person that you just can’t help but hold on to. Thinking of those sweet guys during this time.

My condolences to the Martin family. Mrs Martin was a special lady and treating me very well when I was in elementary school. What I will remember her the most as was her and Mrs. Harrell working together, recessed aids, and a few times I did get in trouble, her blowing her whistle and having me sit on the bench for a 15 minute timeout and ask her for five minutes and if time is up yet, lol she was always very nice and always very fair and I appreciated that about her. ❤️
